Hard Rock Japan
Sapporo Snow Festival
A Hard Rock Family Live experience
Once upon a time I lived in Tokyo and had the awesome fortune to work with Hard Rock to promote their presence at the Sapporo Snow Festival. The festival is an annual event in Sapporo, the largest city in the north island of Hokkaido. The festivities included a projection mapped snow sculpture and concert series that brought great times to thousands of festival-goers.
In partnership with The Moment Factory, a giant snow sculpture was built. It featured two popular anime characters, Toyama Kasumi and Hatsune Miku that both perform concert tours nationally as digital representations of the popular characters. In the sculpture these two icons were brought together for the first time ever to perform live once the sun had set and the lightshow could illuminate them to life.
Bringing people out of the cold, in a theater near the ice sculpture Hard Rock also put on a concert featuring multiple popular bands, as well as local school talent, and a very special performance by the indigenous Ainu tribe of Nibutani, Hokkaido.
